Beloved brother of the late Lillian Downing and Charles Lewis. Dear companion of the late Doris Molloy. Beloved uncle of Robert Downing of Chelsea, Barbara Teodorczyk of Lynn, Patricia Wierbowicz of Peabody, James Downing and Carolyn Butt both of revere, Richard Downing of Woburn, Dorothy Walsh of Peabody, Linda Foster of Chelsea, Charles Lewis of Florida and the late Kathryn Ciulla and Donald Downing. Also lovingly survived by many great nieces and nephews as well as his companions children, Denise Levy, Nancy Molloy, Elaine Mastrangelo, Thomas, Peter, John, Michael, David and Richard Molloy. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Saturday morning, February 5th at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway, CHELSEA at 9 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment with Military Honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
A life long resident of Chelsea until 8 years ago, William, age 82 passed away late Wednesday evening at the Life Care Center of the North Shore in Lynn after a year long illness.
Until his retirement in 1978, William was employeed as a shipper for S.S. Pierce at their Boston store.
