Vincent T. Blakely of Reading passed away on Wednesday, February 02, 2005 at his home. He was 81 years of age.
Born in Charlestown, Vincent was a longtime resident of Reading. Vincent was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all.
Vincent was a dedicated lithographer in the printing industry for many years. He was a devoted family man. During World War II, Vincent proudly served our country in the United States Navy.
Vincent was the beloved husband of Lillian T. (Ciano) Blakely. He was the devoted father of Alan T. Blakely and his wife Heidi E., and the late Regina Blakely. Vincent was the cherished grandfather of Valerie Elkins, Amanda Lockwood and Ellen Blakely and the loving great grandfather of 5. He was the dear brother of Veronica Rando and the late Helen Blakely and Geniveve Merlin. Vincent was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and his pet cat George.
Vincent said “To all the gallant men who served with me on the LST 454 in the many campaigns in the South Pacific, I bid you all a fond farewell.
