Obituary

Marc I. Stiouphile, 98, formerly of Laconia died February 1, 2005 in Harborside Nursing Home in Bedford. He was born in Laconia on September 23, 1906, the son of Arthur Pierre Stiouphile and Georgianna Marie (LaCasse) Stiouphile and resided in Laconia all of his life.

During the 1940’s and 50’s he was manager of Pittman Hardware on Main St. in Laconia. During the 60’s he refinished wooden boats at Saunder’s Bay Boat Co. in Glendale. He spent his final working years at Week’s Dairy Bar as senior maintenance manager until his retirement in 1971.

Marc really enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Opeechee and Lake Winnipesaukee. He was well known for his gardening skills at his Strafford St. residence, where he lived for almost 50 years. He also spent five years living in his beloved Glendale condominium at Intervale Rd.

He is survived by his son and his wife, Kenneth and Maureen Stiouphile of Litchfield NH and their daughter, Colleen Gates of Auburn NH; his daughter and her husband, Carol and Lee Delaney of Maggie Valley NC and their three children, David Lee Delaney of Hadley MA, Donna Harris of Bowling Green FL and Eric M. Delaney of Westhampton MA. Six great grandchildren also survive him.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his wife, Mary Edna (Rollins) Stiouphile and a sister, Eliane B. Stiouphile.

A calling hour was held in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Saturday morning. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. at 11 AM. Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor was the celebrant. Spring burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber were the funeral directors.
