William John Hall, of Brockton died January 31, 2005 at the Guardian Center after a period of failing health. Born in Patton, PA, first son of the late William H. and Nellie R. (Proud) Hall. His beloved wife, Mary L. (Bradt) Hall, whom he was married to for 56 years died in 2002. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday.
Mr. Hall was a United States Navy veteran of two wars, World War II and Korea, serving four years in each war in the Pacific and Mediterranean. He received the Good Conduct medal for service during WWII.
Mr. Hall and his wife lived in Quincy for more than 45 years before moving to Brockton, where he had been a resident since 1996. He was employed at the former Columbia Packing Company in Dorchester for more than 30 years and retired from the US Post Office, South Postal Annex after ten years.
He is survived by one son William J. Hall, Jr. of Nashua, NH, one daughter Patricia A. Bates and her husband James. L. Bates Jr. of Brockton, three grandchildren, Jessica, James III, and Katelyn, all of Brockton. He was a special friend of Michael Sheu.
Mr. Hall was the oldest of 13 children and is survived by his siblings Nellie Mae Gebo of Taberg, NY, James Richard “Dick” Hall of New Mexico, Sara Ella McKee of Largo, FL, Bessie Roberta Keller of Lewistown, PA, Betty Elizabeth Amerson of Sachse, TX, Polly Anna Hooks of Lewistown, PA, Lenetta Grace Battin of Green Forest, Ark, Samuel Jack Hall of New Mexico, and Rebecca Louise Thompson of Medway, MA. He was the brother of the late Ida Jean Eliot, Robert Charles Hall and Thomas Lewis Hall.
