Obituary

Thelma Sarah R. Ashmore Raley, 98, died February 1, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS, after a sudden illness.

She was born April 10, 1906 at her home in Lafayette County, near Water Valley, to the late Edgar Lewis Ashmore and Rachel Elmira Hendricks. She married Loyd Elbert Raley on August 12, 1937.

She was a homemaker. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Mt. Liberty Church. She was also the oldest member of the John J. Hart Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Dickerson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mr. Liberty Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Grant and her husband Jim of Haleyville, AL; one son, Buck Raley and his wife Anne of Banner, MS; six grandchildren, Cathy Russell, Darren Raley, Barry Raley, Suzette Kitchen, Tony Raley, and Todd Grant; two step-grandchildren, Jeff Walters and Crystal Turner; four great grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband - Loyd Raley in 1960, her son Lynn Raley in 1979, five brothers and five sisters.

Pallbearers will be Barry Raley, Todd Grant, Tony Raley, Bob Kitchen, Jeff Walters, and Horace Hardy
