Obituary

WORCESTER-Francis X. Carraher, 74, of 2 Thistle Lane, and Dennisport, formerly of 8 Roseland Road, died Monday, January 31st in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Phyllis E. (Beams) Carraher, 5 sons, William T. and his wife, Fay Carraher, of Billerica, Francis X. Carraher, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Apex, NC, Thomas R. and his wife, Karen Carraher, Joseph P. and his wife, Deborah Carraher and Richard J. and his wife, Denise Carraher all of Worcester. 2 daughters, Mary C. Carrraher-Quillen and her husband Jeffrey of Worcester, and Elizabeth M. Carraher-Royer of Palm Harbor, FL. A brother Thomas Carraher of Worcester, 12 grandchildren, a great granddaughter, nephews and nieces, and a sister in law Mildred Cummings of Auburn.

He was born in Worcester the son of Thomas and Mary (Hudson) Carraher, and attended St. John’s High School and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. He earned his Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Worcester State Teachers College. Mr. Carraher was an Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired from the Worcester Public School System after 39 years as Supervisor of Curriculum and Development. Mr. Carraher was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, the Holy Cross Sodality of Our Lady, Greendale Retired Men’s Club and the Auburn Lodge of Elks.

The funeral is Thursday, February 3rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 2nd, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
