Obituary

LAWRENCE, MA-Charles W. McAllister of Lawrence, MA, formerly of West Melbourne, FL, passed away on March 27th at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Mary (Kehoe) and John W. McAllister.

Charlie was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was employed at HP Hood and Sons for 13 years and became a reserve firefighter in 1963. He was appointed a permanent member of the Lawrence Fire Department in 1971; a job he loved and was honored to hold. Charlie was stationed at Engine 6 for many years before accepting the position of Assistant to the Fire Chief at the central station. He was very active in the Firefighters Union, Lawrence Firefighters Credit Union and the Relief’s Inn which he helped to establish. Charlie was a good friend to many and a proud Irish Catholic. He was devoted to his wife and dearly loved his family and the Florida sunshine. He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and New England Patriots.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Paula (Saunders) McAllister; his children, Donna Howie of Lawrence, Sheila Wood and her husband Kenneth of Derry, NH, Maryellen and her wife Lisa Magararu of Lawrence, Charles and his wife Carol of North Andover; sister, Jeanne Pappalardo and her husband Joseph of Methuen and their two daughters; brother Joseph and his wife Nancy of Melbourne Beach, FL; son in law George Howie of Andover; his grandchildren Nicholas and Jonathan Howie, Kenneth and Patrick Wood, Michelle, Michael and Nikolaos Papanikolaou, Ian and Cody McAllister and Amanda Santos as well as 5 beautiful great-granddaughters. He will be sadly missed by all.

ARRANGEMENTS: Please join the family to celebrate his life on Tuesday, April 7th from 5 to 8 P.M. at John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury St, Lawrence, MA. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 118 S. Broadway, Lawrence, MA.
