“C. W.” Clyde Walton “Rocky” Pharr, Jr., 78, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015, in Tifton. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the Pharr residence at 249 Swain Road in Tifton.
C.W. “Rocky” Pharr was born October 14, 1936 in Prentiss County, MS. He was the third child, first son, of Clyde Walton Pharr and Ozelle Marie Gann Pharr. His oldest sister, Dorothy Walton Pharr preceded him death. He is survived by Aughie Rhea Boccardo of New Jersey, Bobby Kent Pharr (Gloria), Sarah Ann Stanford, Sandra Day and John Dale (Carol) Pharr of Lenox and Terry Heflin Pharr of Omega. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
The United States Army took Rocky to Washington State where he married his love, Jo Ann Irwin Pharr nearly 55 years ago. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Tarie, son-in-law Ken; granddaughter, Celia Jo; grandson-in-law, J.R.; and his precious great-grandchildren, Rocky and Charlie Jane. In 2008, he moved his family to Tifton, where he built them forever homes and created a beautiful place for them to raise his great-grandbabies together. We will continue to raise the babies with his values and embraced in his love.
Rocky was a general contractor and his projects will leave a mark on Washington, Oregon and California. Most people would consider him old-fashioned in business as he considered a handshake to be as binding as a contract. He had the opportunity to mentor and teach many people along the way. He loved his workers, his subcontractors and his clients. It was a great team. Although retirement did not completely agree with him, he loved that it afforded him time to hold Charlie Jane and drive Rocky to school.
Rocky had a big life for his short 78 years. He loved to golf, fish and play Gin with his family. He was bigger than life itself and loved to make people laugh. He would want us to go forth taking care of and loving each other. We miss him and love him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice.
