LuDell Smith, 96, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Fitzgerald Church of God in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Smith was born September 25, 1918, in Swainsboro, Georgia, to the late Gifford Fulton Lamb and the late Ella Estelle Crews Lamb Finkle. She lived in the community all of her life and was a former winder for Fitzgerald Mills. Mrs. Smith enjoyed fishing, watching the Braves and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Betty Rutherford, Billy Smith, Mildred & Aldean Solomon, Robert & Louise Smith, Helen & Jimmy Davis, Brenda Ammons, Eddie & Trellis Smith and Linda Poole, all of Fitzgerald; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother: W. S. Lamb of Perry, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Autman Smith; a daughter-in-law: Connie Smith; four sons-in-law: Aubrey Nicholson, Sr., Hoke Rutherford, Sr., Jerry Ammons. Sr. and Calvin Poole; grandchildren: Tina Marie Smith, Charles Gregory Smith and Theresa Darlene Smith; and two brothers: Troy Lamb and G. F Lamb.
