WORCESTER-Lawrence W. Carey, 89, of 62 Eureka Street, died Wednesday, January 26th in his home. His wife of 65 years Irene E. (Hynes) Carey died in 2001. He leaves 2 sons, William, and his wife Phyllis Carey of Shrewsbury and Richard S. Carey of Worcester, 3 daughters, Ann, wife of Paul Daly of Palden, AZ, Joyce, wife of Paul O’Leary and Carolyn Charbonneau all of Worcester, 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. 2 sisters, Bernardine Temple and Sr. Madelyn Carey, SSJ and a grandson predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of William and Myrtle (Smith) Carey and was a graduate of St. John’s High School. Mr. Carey had at one time worked as a route salesman for Cushman Bakery, and retired in 1980 from Allmerica Financial as a security guard. He was a member of St. Peter’s Parish.
The funeral is Monday, January 31st, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main Street. Burial will be in Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Sunday, January 30th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
