TEWKSBURY - Harry M. Wilson Jr., age 79, a former freight inspector for the B & M, died
Thursday evening, Jan. 27, at the Palm Manor Nursing Home in Chelmsford after a long period of
declining health. He was the husband of Marilyn M. (Owens) Wilson, with whom he had
celebrated a 55th wedding anniversary this past Oct. 25th.
He was born in Boston, Sept. 8, 1925, a son of the late Harry and Mary (Toby) Wilson. He was
raised in Saugus and graduated Saugus High School. He had lived in Tewksbury since 1953.
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy, in both the European and Asiatic Pacific Theaters. His
tour of duty included a tour aboard the USS Maumee.
He retired from the B & M Railroad, where he had worked as a freight inspector. He was a
member of the Carman’s Union.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Annette Coles and her husband
David of Tyngsboro; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald Wilson and his wife Maureen
(Hughes) of Tewksbury, and Russell Wilson of Boston; two sisters, Bernice Smith and Marion
Wilcomb, both of Saugus; three grandsons and their spouses, David and Heidi Coles of Inverness,
Fla., Derek and Allsion Coles of Windham, NH, Scott Coles and Lisa Velozo of Salem, NH;
four great grandchildren, Brenna, Bradie, Michael, and Dylan.
He was also brother of the late Irving “Bud” Wilson.
His funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 31, in the funeral home.
