Alice (Sylvia) Sylvia, 82, of Fairhaven died Thursday January 27, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John Sylvia.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Moniz) Sylvia, she lived in Fairhaven for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Mrs. Sylvia was a member and Past President of the Oxford Terrace Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Teamsters Retirees Senior Citizens and the St. Mary's Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a son, William Sylvia of West Virginia; two brothers, Louis M. Sylvia of Acushnet and James M. Sylvia of New Bedford; her loving and caring daughter-in-law, Marilyn Sylvia of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Garrett Sylvia of New Bedford, Kristen Bourgault of Acushnet, Margaret Hillman and Elizabeth Jones, both of Loudon, New Hampshire; a nephew, Garrett Silva of New Bedford; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Mary Louise Sylvia and John Sylvia, Jr. and the sister of the late William Sylvia.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett Monday January 31, 2005 at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Sunday January 30, 2005 from 4-8 PM.
