Ralph Henry Shannon, 92, of Needham died on Wednesday January 26th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Ruth Elizabeth (Steeves) Shannon. Ralph and Ruth were married for 65 years and as a couple, showed kindness and hospitality to their family and to many people that became a part of their lives. Born in Middleborough, Massachusetts he was the son of Martin and Christine Shannon. Ralph was a resident of Needham for 75 years. He was a graduate of The Massachusetts School of Pharmacy and was employed by Kinne’s Pharmacy formerly of Needham until his retirement. A member of the First Baptist Church of Needham, Ralph served his church in many ways and was Deacon for many years and was recently appointed a Deacon for his lifetime. He was also a member of Nehoiden Lodge AF & AM in Needham and the Retired Men’s Club of Needham. He is survived by his son, Ralph Shannon Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Naples FL, his two daughters; Carol Ann Murray and her husband Jeffrey of Natick and Geraldine Wilson of Needham. Ralph is also his 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. survive Ralph. A memorial service will held at The First Baptist Church 858 Great Plain Ave Needham on Saturday January 29th at 2:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. There will be no calling hours and the interment at Needham Cemetery will be private.
