LEWIS M. BAKER, age 82, a Braintree resident for almost 50 years, died on Sunday, Jan. 23rd at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Mr. Baker was born in Breznaw, Poland and came to this country at an early age. He was raised and educated in Malden.
For many years, he was a professional harmonica player with the "Harmonica Rascals",and appeared on stage and television, and during World War II participated in two U.S.O. tours. At the conclusion of his musical career in the mid 1950's, he became a building supply salesman, retiring 10 years ago.
He leaves his wife, Martha (Neal) Baker of Braintree; a daughter, Janet B. Richardson of Los Angeles, CA; a son, Neal L Baker of Milton and two grandsons; Christopher N. Baker of Milton and Davis L. Richardson of Los Angeles. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 1st at 11AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The interment is to be private.
