St. Marys, GA – Joanne L. (Manchester) Gore, 72, of St. Mary, GA, formerly of Westport, died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems. She was the widow of William Larry Gore.
She was born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Elmer B. Manchester, Jr. and Althea M. (Chase) Manchester, and had lived in Westport and Charleston, SC prior to moving to St. Marys, GA 18 years ago. Prior to retirement she worked at Polaris Missile Facility Atlantic Pomflant in Goose Creek, SC from 1965 until 1985, where she transferred her employment to the Trident Missile Facility Submarine Base at Kings Bay. After retirement she was employed by Wal-Mart of St. Marys, GA. She was a member of the Amaranth and the Navy League of Kings Bay.
She is survived by: a son: Barton G. Jackson of Murrells Inlet, SC; a daughter: Susan J. Holden of Crandall, TX; 2 brothers: Raymond E. Manchester of Westport and Ronald C. Manchester of Chepachet, RI; a sister: June E. Wild of Westport; a grandson: Justin C. Bauer of Dallas, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport at 9:30 A.M.
