Obituary

Eleanor Mae (Nye) Gibbs, 77, of Marion died Wednesday January 26, 2005 at Forestview Nursing Home in Wareham after a long illness.

Born in Marion, the daughter of the late Ichabod Harry and Florence (Parker) Nye, she lived in Marion all of her life.

She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Marion, where she had been a Sunday school teacher.

Mrs. Gibbs was formerly employed as a clerk at Browne's Pharmacy in Marion and also as a cook and housekeeper for the Kendall family of Marion.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2425. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother.

Survivors include a son, Louis N. Monteiro and his wife Phyllis of Marion; four brothers, Nathan B. Nye and his wife Rosiline "Lol", Harry Nye and his wife Ann, and Thomas Nye and his wife Patricia, all of Marion, and James Nye and his wife Cheryl of Fairhaven; three sisters, Emma Bennett and her husband Sam, Florence Bessette, and Maude Adams, all of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.



She was the sister of the late George Nye.



Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 5, 2005 at 12 Noon in the First Congregational Church of Marion. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the First Congregational Church of Marion, P.O. Box 326, Marion, MA 02738.
