Obituary

Somerset – Dilia Reis Carvalho, 95, passed away on Tuesday, March 24th, 2015. Born Feb 27, 1920, in Lombinha, Mosteiros, Sào Miguel, Açores. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Alexandrina Reis. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Josè Filipe Carvalho. She leaves three daughters; Isalia, Manuela, and Isaura and two sons; Josè and Emanuel. Daughters-in-Law; Patricia and Laurie and son-in-law; Victor. Grand-daughters; Sophia, Cassandra, Karisa and Lauren; and grandsons; Erik, Jason, Shaun and Nathan. Great-granddaughters; Lucy, Susannah and Hope Dilia and great grandsons; Hayden and Devyn. She leaves one brother Agostinho Reis and was predeceased by brothers; Manuel, Daniel and Edmundo and sisters; Maria, Evelina, Rosalina and Zara. Additionally, she leaves many nieces and nephews residing in the United States and Canada.
She was devoted to her family and the Catholic Church, attending weekly Mass at St. Michael’s Church in Fall River, Ma. Throughout her long life, she always preformed acts of charity and passionately donated to St. Michael’s Church and to missionaries around the world. Dilia loved cooking delicious meals for her family along with tending her garden. She was a very honest and straightforward person. Dilia will be dearly missed by her immediate and extended family and the many people whose lives she touched.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on SATURDAY here at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Michael’s Church at 9 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours on FRIDAY from 5-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the St. Michael’s Soup Kitchen, 189 Essex St. Fall River, MA. 02720
