MONSON β Lorraine J. (Deshaies) Cummings, 74, of Monson, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 22, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Noble Hospital in Westfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts on May 12, 1940, a beloved daughter of the late Adrien J. Deshaie and Jean M. (Lemieux) Deshaies. She was raised in Amesbury and later lived in Methuen, Lawrence and Springfield. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and moved to Monson around 1985. She was employed for over 30 years as a case worker for the Department of Transitional Assistance in Springfield. During her leisure time, Lorraine enjoyed playing the slot machines at Foxwoods Casino. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Richard A. Cummings, Sr. They were married on November 4, 1961 at the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 53 years of happiness together. She also leaves her two loving children, Richard A. Cummings, Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Chicopee and Cheryl A. Beal and her husband, Roy, of Ludlow, MA; her three cherished grandchildren, Richard A. βArtβ Cummings, III, Amanda L. Beal and Royce R. Beal; her dear brother, Roger Deshaies and his wife, Janet, of South Dennis; her dear sister-in-law, Patty (Donoghue) Deshaies of East Longmeadow; her dear brother-in-law, Roger Cummings and his wife, Teresa, of Agawam; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Cummings and Deshaies families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Donald R. Deshaies who was Called Home on June 20, 2011. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday morning, March 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre β Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 10 a.m.). Her Burial will follow the Service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
