Obituary

Leonard D. Coe, age 73, of Wareham, formerly of Brockton, died March 21, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife and best friend of 46 years of marriage Joyce (Ortendahl) Coe. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Mary Ruth (O’Neil) Coe. Len attended Brockton schools and graduated from Brockton High School, class of 1959. Following graduation he joined the Army and served as a Military Policeman. After leaving the service, Len joined his father at Coe’s Mobil Service Station located on Belmont Street, Brockton in 1962. His father passed away in 1967 whereupon Len called his brother Richard to be his partner. Together they ran a very successful business for over 36 years. In 2003 they sold the business and retired.
In addition to his wife Joyce, Len leaves three children Leonard Jr. and his wife Lucy, Cassandra Alves and her husband Andrew and Alexandria Coe; five grandchildren Joshua and Chelsea Coe and Mackenzie, Alyssa and Brianna Alves. Len was predeceased by his daughter Jessica A. Coe who was killed by a drunk driver in 1990 at age 18. His brother Richard E. Coe, Jr. died in 2012 following a lengthy illness due to a stroke in 2002.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Thursday at 9:30am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am.
