SALEM- Blanche E. (Tremblay) Hussey, 98, of Salem, wife of the late William C. “Bill” Hussey, died Saturday evening, January 22, 2005, in a local nursing home following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Georgianna (Brindle) Tremblay.
From 1954 until their retirement in 1976, she, together with her late husband, owned and operated Bill’s Variety Store at Moody Square (North and Orne Streets) in Salem.
A lifelong resident of Salem, she was a parishioner of the St. Thomas The Apostle Church since the time it was established as a parish.
Mrs. Hussey is survived by two daughters, Nancy Nadeau of Salem, Carol Legault of Kingman, Arizona, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ralph Hussey of St. Petersburg, Florida, Philip and Claire Hussey of Hernando, Florida, eleven grandchildren, Deborah Foley, Julie Graham, Philip & Laurie Hussey, Phyllis Maye, Robin & Bruce Nadeau, Donna Glenn, William, Estelle & Albert Legault, thirteen great grandchildren, Joseph & Michael Foley, Christopher & Lindsey Graham, Amanda & Brian Hussey, Philip Lindsey, Marion Maye, Veronique & James Glenn, James & Justin McCoy, Ttrevor Naud and several nieces and nephews. The last of fourteen siblings, she was predeceased by eight brothers, Homer, Herbert, Ernest, James, Leo, Theodore, Leon and Edgar Hussey, five sisters, Gladys Conroy, Alice Doggett, Marion Dunn, Florence Tremblay, Rose Tremblay, and one great grandchild, Corey Wells.
A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 10 at the St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Salem. Committal to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday, 6 to 8 pm in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem.
