Sister M. Consuela (Mary) Haggerty, 92, a Sister of Mercy for 68 years, died at Catholic
Medical Center in Manchester, N.H., Friday, January 21, 2005, after a brief illness.
A native of Roxbury, Mass., she was the daughter of William and Agnes (O'Connor) Haggerty.
Sister Consuela received a B.S. in education from Mount Saint Mary College, Hooksett,
N.H., and an M.Ed. from Boston College. She was a dedicated educator who taught for many years in Catholic elementary schools in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. In New Hampshire she was a teacher at St. John School in Laconia; Sacred Heart in Lebanon; St. Joseph in Keene; and St. Patrick in Manchester, where she also served
as principal. She also taught at St. Ann School in Gloucester, Mass.
Sister Consuela was a faculty member of the Education
Department at Mount Saint Mary College in Hooksett from 1962 until the college closed
in 1978. From that time until her retirement in 1986, she was librarian at Mount Saint
Mary High School in Nashua, N.H. During her years at the Warde Health Center in Windham, N.H., Sister Consuela performed many services within the community.
Family members include several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call at the Sisters of Mercy Warde Health Center, 21 Searles Road,
Windham, New Hampshire, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25. A prayer service will be held in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Sisters of Mercy in Windham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH
