Frances Marion Smith, age 70, passed away at her home in the Oakland, MS community on Thursday, Janurary 20, 2005. She was born in Shelby County, TN and had lived in this area for the past 52 years. Mrs. Smith was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church and was a homemaker, a loving wife and a mother.
The family will receive friends at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday evening, January 22,2005, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at Sylva Rena Baptist Church with Rev. Hal Clark and Rev. James West officiating. Serving as pallbearers are: Butch Surrette, Travis Brooks, Jack Biggers, Howard Barton, Terry Rotenberry and J. C. Womble. Following the service, interment will be in Goshen Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
Survivors include the following: her loving husband, Aaron G. Smith of Oakland, MS ; three sons, Thomas G. Smith, Joe A. Smith and Aaron Eugene Smith all of Oakland; two sisters, Peggy Jean Cummings of Mt. Pleasant, MS and Alice Faye Reed of Byhalia, MS; four brothers, James Thomas Allen of Southaven, MS , Robert Wilbur Allen of Memphis, Tn , Paul Vernon Allen of McDonough, GA and John Terrell Allen of Coffeeville, MS; a granddaughter, Bettye Smith Durham of Memphis, TN ; a grandson, Jamie Smith of Charleston, MS and one great-grandson, Chandler Reese Durham of Memphis, TN.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents: James Wilbur Allen and Grace Marion Appling Allen and one sister, Rosemary Allen.
