Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street(Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8 am. Obituary
Mr. Gardner died Friday morning at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was born in Brockton, son of the late Lawrence and Eva G. (Gardner) Gardner. He remained a life long resident of Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1936. In 1983 he retired from the MBTA after 38 years as a diesel mechanic having started with the former Eastern Mass Railway in 1945. He had also been a part time wallpaper hanger and part time driver for the Conley Funeral Home. He was an avid and talented golfer who shot three holes in one and was a member for 25 years of Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton. He enjoyed music, dancing, gardening and sports. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox and Celtics.
He is survived by his by three daughters, Judith E. Connolly and her husband Richard of So. Easton; Phyllis E. Riordan and her husband George of Brockton and Denise A. Boutin and her husband John of Raynham, six grandchildren Maura Fine; Kara Dupill; Brian Connolly; Jennifer, Kevin and Katie Riordan and four great grandchildren, a sister Mary Davidson of E. Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews.
