Joan Phyllis Chretien, age 66, of Salem, NH, died Thursday at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH after a courageous battle with a brief illness.
She was born and educated in Lawrence, MA. She was a resident of Salem, NH for the past 29 years, formerly of New Jersey.
Joan worked in the kitchen for Salemhaven Nursing home in Salem, NH as a diet aide. She was known for her ability to spot a good bargain a mile away. She enjoyed crocheting and made beautiful afghans for her family. Joan loved gardening and yard work, and took great care in tending to her many plants and flowers. She will be remembered as a strong loving mother, grandmother and sister who put her family first in all situations.

Betty Ann Ryker of Salem, NH
1 Sister: Rita Donovan of Salem, NH
10 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces & Nephews
A memorial service will be held Monday January 24, 2005 at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Haverhill, Massachusetts.
