Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 11 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 10 to 11am

Edward Lifchitz died Thursday morning at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton, the son of the late Samuel and Minnie (Polonsky) Lifchitz, he was a career man in the United States Army. He retired from the Air Defense Command serving as an advisor to the Massachusetts National Guard Air Defense. Previously he had served in Korea and Germany in peacetime. During WWII he had served in Normandy and Germany on the Danube River with the 337 Harbor Craft Company. Following his career service discharge he was employed by General Dynamics in the Quincy Shipbuilding Division, retiring in 1985. He had bowled in Men’s Leagues at the Westgate Lanes.
He is survived by a son Kenneth E. Wadsworth of Florida, two sisters Eleanor Zarralla of Brockton and Esther Katz of California and several nieces and nephews and close sister in laws, Agnes Prendergast and Dorothy Shea both of Brockton.
He was the husband of the late Marian L. (Millay) Lifchitz and brother of the late Sidney Lipson.
