Obituary

Robert G. "Bob" Becotte, 87, a resident of Salisbury, MA, formerly of Methuen, MA, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA surrounded by his family.

Born in Lawrence, Bob was a graduate of both St. Patrick's Grammar School and Lawrence High School. He then went on to graduate from Merrimack College with a Degree in Business. Bob had worked for the Travelers Insurance Company for 30 years and then went on to work for the McCarthy Insurance Agency for some 20 years. A United States Navy Veteran, Bob had served during World War II. He had been an attendant of St. Monica's Church in Methuen where he was an active member of the Parish Council as well as served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector. Bob had served as a Registrar for the Town of Salisbury, MA and was very involved at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence. He had been a longtime member and past president of the Methuen-Salem Rotary Club. Bob enjoyed playing golf and was always very involved in his grandchildren's sporting and school events.

Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years Bernice (Halloran) Becotte as well as his 5 children: Shauna Becotte of Salisbury, MA, Paula Goggin and her husband Jack also of Salisbury, MA, Robert G. Becotte, Jr. and his wife Catherine (O'Rourke) Becotte of Newburyport, MA, Jamie Becotte and her husband Steven O'Connor of Amesbury, MA, and Patrick Becotte and his wife Maria (Kannan) Becotte of Haverhill, MA., 8 grandchilden: Sara, Robert III, and Meredith Becotte, Curran, Riley and Flannery O'Connor, and Jaclyn and Lauren Becotte. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.


A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. in Star of the Sea Church, 18 Beach Rd., Salisbury, MA. Burial will take place at a later date. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Alzheimer's Unit at the M.I. Nursing Center, 172 Lawrence St., Lawrence, MA, 01841.
