Vernie Mozelle Arnold Benford, formerly of Fitzgerald, died in Lawrenceville, Georgia on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 22, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 22, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, Alabama. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, at 11 AM, March 24, 2015, at Littleville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mozelle was born in Winston County, Alabama to Walker S. and Essie Ashley Arnold. She was formerly employed by Sears Roebuck Company. She also served as a supply teacher in Alabama and Ben Hill County. Mozelle participated in Home Demonstration clubs in Ben Hill and Irwin Counties. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was Director of the Women’s Mission Organization for many years.
She is survived by her son: Gleason Benford and his wife, Janet; grandchildren Butch Benford and his wife, Sandi; Jennifer Hadden; great grandchildren, Spencer, Mitchell, and Ryann Benford and Samantha and Luke Hadden. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than sixty years, G. Alvin Benford.
