Obituary

WESTFIELD – Lionel P. Bergeron, 55, one of God’s Special People, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, March 19, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at his home on East Mountain Road in Westfield surrounded by his extended family and all the people who loved him dearly. He was born in Holyoke on April 30, 1959, a beloved son of the late Philip L. and Eva A. (Manseau) Bergeron. He was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee where he lived for many years. For the past three years, he was cared for by a group of special caregivers on East Mountain Road in Westfield. During his short life, Lionel touched many people, made many friends and was a proud graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School. Lionel enjoyed the simple things in life and received several medals with his involvement in the Special Olympics. He also enjoyed going to the Mont Marie Country Corn Flakes Square Dance, being involved with Jericho in Holyoke and bowling with MCS West. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his two loving brothers, Philip Bergeron and Albert Bergeron. He leaves his two loving brothers and five loving sisters, Richard Bergeron and his wife, Linda, of Winter Haven, FL, Joseph Bergeron and his wife, Sonja, and Alice Bergeron, all of Chicopee, Lucille Hadley and her husband, Ernest, of South Hadley, Jeanne Laizer of Agawam, and Cecile Gregoire and her husband, Steven, and Doris Ryder, all of Chicopee; his two loving sisters-in-law, Theresa Bergeron of Chicopee and Linda Bergeron of Laurel Hill, NC; and his many loving nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Bergeron and Manseau families. In addition, he leaves his loving niece and caregiver, Angela Jodoin and her husband, Matthew, of Agawam; and his extended loving family from East Mountain Road in Westfield. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday morning, March 24, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Noble Visiting Nurse and Hospice, 77 Mill Street, Suite 201, Westfield, MA 01085.
