Freda M. (Hudson) Cournoyer age 89 of W. Bridgewater died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Lifecare Center, W. Bridgewater after a period of failing health. She was the devoted wife for 65 years of the late Fred J. Cournoyer, Jr. For many years she had lived at Matfield Woods in W. Bridgewater.
Freda was born in London and was the youngest of nine children. She had worked in the British War Office during World War II. She met and married her husband in London and came to the United States in 1945.
She retired as a switchboard operator at Good Samaritan Medical Center after 25 years. She enjoyed arts and crafts, her dogs and was proud of her English heritage and belonged to the Britannia Club. Freda will be remembered for her fabulous sense of humor.
She was the mother of Janet Linn of Winter Springs, FL, Nancy Bilunis and her husband Robert of Lakeville, Jeffrey Cournoyer of FL and the late Ted Cournoyer. She was the grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 6.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton on Friday, 4-7 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8 am for a Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church, 54 Lyman St, Brockton at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
