Obituary

Robert "Bob" W. Mears, 76, a life long resident of Lawrence died on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lawrence on May 9, 1938 to Charles A. & Katherine E. (Sline) Mears. Educated in the Lawlor and the Gilbert E. Hood Grammar Schools in Lawrence. A 1955 Graduate of Lawrence High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked at Bolton-Emerson Inc. for 13 years until he accepted his appointment with the Lawrence Fire Department, working for 31 years until his retirement in 2003. After retirement he worked with his best friend Phil Guerin at Precision Engineering Co.Inc. He was an avid 45's Player and played at the Relief's Inn, Concordia Club, Bavarian Club and the Elks Club. He also loved to go on trips to Las Vegas with his wife Gerry and his sister and brother in law; Joyce and Joe, as well as family trips to the beach and the mountains.
He is the husband of the late: Geraldine M. (Sullivan) Mears, and is survived by his three sons: Michael and his wife Ann Marie Mears of Lawrence, William J. Mears of Lawrence and Charles R. and his wife Mary Mears of Sandown, NH. His daughter Susan M. Howshan and her husband William K. of Haverhill. Grand children; Jon-Michael Mears, Keith Sturgis, Charles "CJ" Mears, Jr., Cyrena Mears, Alex Mears, Katherine Mears, Michael Mears, Anthony Mears, Kenneth Howshan, and four great grand children. His brother; John Mears of Las Vegas, his sister; Joyce Gallant of Jacksonville, NC, brother; Donald Mears of Blackstone, MA, sister; Linda Bodwell and her husband Peter of Millville, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to meet directly at church to attend a funeral mass at 10:00AM on Monday, March 23, 2014 at Corpus Christi Church in Lawrence. Funeral procession will follow to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
