
Mary Lillie (Pontes) Perry, of Westport, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife, of 65 years, to the late Seraphine C. Perry.
Lillie was born in Fall River on October 27, 1919 and was daughter of the late Francisco and Theresa (Alfonso) Pontes of Westport. Lillie worked as a presser at Schniderson’s Mill in Fall River before her marriage in 1943, after which she worked with her husband on their farm in Westport. She was an active member of the Saint John the Baptist Ladies Guild. She enjoyed quilting and cooking at the church and for church bazaars and penny sales. She was a recipient of the Marion Medal in 1986. She always looked forward to weekly breakfast after church with family and friends and monthly get-togethers with friends. We will be forever grateful for the compassion shown by the nurses and doctors of Southcoast Health Critical Care CCU.
Her survivors include two sons: David P. Perry and wife June of Wasilla Alaska and Michael S. Perry Sr. and wife Elizabeth of Westport; her daughter: Carolyn P. Ferry and husband Manuel Ferry III of Westport; daughter-in-law: Gloria Kay Perry of Westville Florida; two sisters: Irene Moniz of Westport and Zeria Carvalho of Tiverton, RI., one brother: Alfred Pontes of New Bedford, Ma; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Victor “Butch” Perry and sister of the late Manuel Pontes.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
