
Edward J. Cote, 87 of Salem, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 with his family at his side, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ann (Barbagallo) Cote.
He was born and raised in Salem, the son of the late William and Alma (Houde) Cote. Edward was a firefighter for the City of Salem from June of 1958, until his retirement in June of ’88. He had also worked in construction for many years.
Ed loved to vacation with his family in Maine and also truly enjoyed summer days at Winter Island with friends. Through the years he also had the support and friendship of the Peabody Men’s Group. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many.
He is survived by his children, Janice M. Dube and Brian of Salem, Nancy Silver and husband Kevin of Georgetown, William E. Cote and wife Sandra of Stratham, NH and his sister Simonne Gongas of Salem. He was the loving grandfather of Jason & Katelyn Dube and Jesse Cote and great-grandfather of Aidan and Austin Dube. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Thursday at 9:00 A.M. to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
