Anthony Calenda, 81, of Foster died Monday, March 16, 2015 at RI Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Barbara L. (Pezzullo) Calenda. They had been married for 59 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Anna (Paolino) Calenda. He had lived in Foster and had previously lived in Providence.
Mr. Calenda was a patrolman for the RI Capital Police before retiring in 1992. He had served in the Army.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children: Debra A. Vallone of Foster, Michael Calenda, Ret. Sgt., JPD, of Johnston and Anthony G. Calenda of Warwick, his grandchildren: Peter J. Cannavo, Steven V. Vallone, Anthony M. Vallone and Marianna A. Calenda and his greatgrandson, Steven V. Vallone, IV
Funeral Thursday at 8am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Eugene’s Church, 1251 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Wednesday 4-8pm.
