Obituary

Joseph “Baita” Santos, Jr. Age 81. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy “Dot” (Perreault) Santos. Residence Alden St., Fall River, MA.
Died Tuesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital.Born in Fall River, Ma. Son of the late Joseph Santos and the late Maria (Rodrigues) Santos. He was a life long resident of Fall River from the “Flint” section. Mr. & Mrs. Santos would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 15, 2004. He worked at the Plymouth Rubber Company in Canton, Ma. and was President of the United Rubber Workers local # 573, before retiring to become proprietor, with his wife, of the former East End Café. He loved spending time with his family. He was a great dancer who also enjoyed playing cards and reading the newspaper. He was a N.Y. Yankees fan all of his life. His favorite saying was “It only counts in October". He was a U.S.Army Air Corp Veteran of WW II with rank of SGT. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

He is survived by One Son: Joseph G. Santos of Texas. Three Daughters: Jo Ann Bernier of Berkley, MA, Jeanine Morin of Fall River, MA and Lynne Santos of Westport, MA. Two Brothers: Henry Santos of Ohio, Antone Santos of Ohio. Four Sisters: Hilda Connors of E. Providence, RI, Irene Pavao of Fall River, MA, Mary Jane Armarantes of Fall River, MA and Delores Medeiros of North Dighton, MA. Many Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren and Many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Manuel and Gilbert Santos.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 North Main St. Fall River, MA on Friday at 10:00 AM followed by a mass of Christian burial in Immaculate Conception Church, Thomas St., Fall River, MA at 11:00 AM. Internment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River, MA. Calling hours Thursday 4-8 P.M.
