WORCESTER - Rita Frances (Anachefski) Dobson, 78, 0f 1050 Main Street died Tuesday, January 18 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
Her husband Thomas J. Dobson Sr. died in May of 1987. She leaves a son Thomas J. Dobson Jr. of Worcester; a daughter Sandra J. Carelli of Dudley; five grandchildren Holly Dobson, Jason Dobson, Justin Dobson and Jerome Dobson all of Worcester and Jonathan Carelli of Dudley. She was born on August 2, 1926 in Worcester daughter of the late John and Lucy (Kureskie) Anachefski of Pawtucket, RI.
Mrs. Dobson was a switchboard operator at The College of the Holy Cross for 8 years before retiring in January of 1990. She previously worked as a teachers aide for 12 years at Canterbury Street School. She was a memeber of Canterbury Street School Mothers' Club for 18 years and treasurer for 10 years; the Title 1 City Advisory Council and Principal's Advisory Council at Canterbury Street School and of the 1050 Club at Webster Square Towers. She was secretary of the first Boy Scout troop formed at the Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph, MA. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
The funeral will be on Friday, January 21 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond Street with a mass at 10 Am in St. Peter's Church 931 Main Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, January 20 from 1 to 3 PM and 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
