Obituary

AUBURN-Evelyn C. (Case) Hackett, 89, died Monday, January 17th in St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband of 63 years, Charles L. Hackett, Sr., died in 1997. She leaves 4 sons, Richard and his wife, Ann Hackett of Spencer, Charles Hackett, Jr., and his wife, Claire of Worcester, William Hackett of Worcester and Robert Hackett of Auburn, 2 daughters, Carol, wife of Joseph Lulu of Sutton and Dorothy, wife of Norman Gosselin of Spencer, 22 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. 5 brothers, Lloyd, Robert, Raymond, Walter and Richard Case, and 2 sisters, Bernice Johnson and Mildred Conway predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of Benjamin F. and Florence M. (Burlingame) Case and had lived in Auburn for 25 years. Mrs. Hackett was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, and enjoyed her time spent at home admiring the flower gardens in her yard. Evelyn would like to thank Claire, Dot, Carol, Lisa, Linda, Terry, Inez and especially her granddaughter Cindy as well as the others whose care allowed her to remain in the comfort of her home.

The funeral is Friday, January 21st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, January 20th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VNA of Central Massachusetts, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
