Obituary

Helen (Bielski) Regan of Waltham and Sagamore Beach died on January 17, just three days after celebrating her 90th birthday. Helen was born in Newton Upper Falls on January 14, 1915, the daughter of Mary and Paul Bielski. She was the oldest of 4 children who were all raised in Needham. Helen graduated from Needham High School in 1932, and married Edward C. Regan on June 23, 1940. She lived in Waltham most of her life working for Liberty Mutual, Grover Cronins and the City of Waltham for many years. She summered in Sagamore Beach where she owned a small cottage adjacent to those of her brother and mother. In the late 90’s, she sold her long time home on Cabot St. and moved to the Hovey House also in Waltham. She found great joy being by the shore, or knitting afghans for her extended family, and of course, playing Bingo with her friends old and new. Her husband in 1971, and her younger brothers, Matthew Bielski in 1977 and Stanley “Steve” Bielski in 1990 as well as a niece, NancyAnn Bielski in 1985, predeceased her. She is survived by her brother Walter Bielski and his wife Jessie of Framingham, three nieces: of Paula B. Davis of Holliston, Carol B. Martin of East Longmeadow, Susan J. Bielski of Vineyard Haven and nephew Robert Regan of Weston CT: her sister in laws Jane R. Bielski of Needham, Lillian W. Bielski of Norwood, her first cousin Janet Szetelia of Newton Lower Falls and several great nieces, great nephews and second cousins. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church Newton Upper Falls on Thursday Jan. 20th at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Wednesday from 3-6 PM. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham. In lieu of flowers memorials in Helen’s memory may be made to the Hovey House, 315 Crescent Rd. Waltham MA 02453.
