Desmond E. Sullivan, an attorney, died on January 15 at the Massachusetts General Hospital after a six month illness. He was 68
Born in Newton, he attended Boston College High School, College of the Holy Cross and Boston College Law School. After law school, he entered the Judge Advocate General Corps and attended the Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, Virginia. He served as a Captain in the Third Armored Division , US Army Europe and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.
On completion of his military service, he joined a family law firm, Hoag and Sullivan, in Boston. The firm’s practice centered on commercial and residential real estate. He lived on the North Shore, in Magnolia and Boxford , later moving to Plymouth when his firm relocated to Marshfield.
He was a member of the Boston, the Massachusetts and the American Bar Associations and the Massachusetts Conveyancers Association.
Desmond is survived by his daughter Aline Sullivan and son-in-law William Pitt of Westport, Connecticut: his daughter Karen Sullivan of Rhinecliff, New York; his sister Brenda Geishecker and brother-in-law Jack Geishecker of Needham; his sister Mary Jane Sullivan, RSCJ of Newton, two grandchildren and his former wife Elaine Sullivan of Boston.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Thurs Jan 20 at 9:30 and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Newton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery.
