Robert A. Decormier, 58, of 765 Union Avenue died January 14, 2005 in Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. He was born in Laconia on September25, 1946, the son of Armand E. and Gabrielle (Paquette) Decormier and had lived here all of his life.
Educated in Laconia schools, he served in Vietnam with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Decormier was employed as a machinist at Carpenter & Patterson and later at Aavid Engineering. As a young adult, he had served an apprenticeship with Arthur E. Simoneau of the Simoneau & Son Funeral Home.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to read. He held membership in the VFW Post 1670 of Laconia and the Wilkins Smith Post #1, American Legion.
Family members include his son Dana Decormier and his wife Laurie of Tilton; three grandchildren, Olivia, Jack and Emily Decormier; a sister Joan Boyd and friend John DiStefano of Laconia; a niece Rebecca Richter and family of Laconia. He was pre-deceased by his parents and a granddaughter, Karie Marie Decormier.
There are no calling hours. A committal service with military honors was held at the NH Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen NH Wednesday at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
