Jo Ann Baker McBrayer, 76, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Tifton, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Silas Carver officiating. Mrs. McBrayer will be laid to rest at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Alan Thomas, Neal McBrayer, Carl McBrayer, Roger Marchant, Justin McBrayer and John McBrayer will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. McBrayer was born September 26, 1938 in Tift County, the daughter of Benjamin E. Baker and Dorothy Montgomery Baker, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Buddy Baker; and two sisters, Gwen Thomas and Lou Nightingale. She was a homemaker, and of the Assembly of God faith.
Mrs. McBrayer is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gene McBrayer of Jacksonville, Florida; one son, Kennon McBrayer of Sylvester; three daughters, Rita DeBord and Teresa Thigpen, both of Jacksonville, Florida and Barbara McBrayer of Elijay; two brothers, Buck Baker of Cusseta and Buster Baker of Dothan, Alabama; three sisters, Eula Mae McGee of Moultrie, Frances McBrayer of Lenox and Faye Barber of Pavo; seven grandchildren, David Thigpen, K. T. Danese, Kenneth Rose, Kevin Rose, Joey Cameron, Josh Partin and Justin West; and six great-grandchildren.
