Ruth O. "Chris" (Christianson) Schramm, 88, of 59 Forest St., Groton, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Fairview Nursing Facility in Groton.
Ruth was born on September 21, 1926 in Drummond, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Andrew Christianson and Anna Olson Christianson.
Ruth served in the US Air Force as a clerk and met her husband at Otis Air Force Base in Falmouth, Ma. She married Otto F. Schramm, Jr. on January 9, 1951. They were married for 53 years before Otto passed away.
Once married, Ruth was a homemaker. She enjoyed raising her 4 children and was known as "Grammie Schrammie" to her grandchildren, whom she treasured deeply. She was a Charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Groton. She enjoyed spending time with friends at "Sewing Circle" and was a member of the Monday morning "Early Risers" bowling league for many years.
She had a faithful companion, "Rose Bud", her cat for 19 years.
Ruth is survived by a son, Scott F. Schramm and his wife Jocelyn of Noank; three daughters, Deborah E. Golub and her husband James of Noank; Paula J. Burns and her husband Kevin of Griswold; and Dr. Beth A. Schramm and her husband Sean of Noank; 8 Grandchildren, Shane, Chad, Andrea, Aaron, Sarah, Gunnar, Bowen, Hunter; 4 Great Grandchildren, Sayde, Natalie, Julia and Grayson. Ruth is predeceased by her 4 sisters, Olga, Agnes, Ida and Ellen, her brother Alf and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be private for the family.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who provided companionship and support to Ruth while she resided at her home and to the staff at Fairview who provided her with excellent care and compassion over the last few years.
