
Jimmy Lamar Sims, 72, of Jennings, Florida, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Malcom Randall V.A Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Ocilla Cemetery with Rev. Joe Sims officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 12:30 to 2:30 at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Sims was born, December 6, 1942, in Ocilla, Georgia to the late James Edgar & Myrtle Elizabeth Haman Sims. He was a 1961 graduate of Irwin County High School where he was a member of the football team. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. Mr. Sims was the owner/operator of the Box Stock Project, a small engine import/export company. He was the founder of the Florida Karting Association, serving as president for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy Sims of Jennings, Florida; a sister, Angela Collins of Jennings, Florida as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
The family suggest those desiring to send memorials, may send them to the American Cancer Society or the Veterans Administration.
