WORCESTER- Margaret M. Petty of Worcester died Friday, April 5th in U-Mass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus after an illness. She leaves 2 brothers, Francis J. and Joseph J. Petty both of Worcester; a sister, Rita J. McDiarmid of Wilbraham; an aunt, Mary O’Connell of Holden and several nephews & nieces. A brother, John Petty died in 1980.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Joseph M. and Johanna (O’Rourke) Petty and graduated from South High and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She was a First Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp during WWII serving in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. Ms. Petty was a registered nurse for 45 years working at the Boston VA Hospital and Worcester City Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and its Guild, Worcester City Hospital Alumni, Dioceses of Catholic Nurses and the American Legion Post #341.
The funeral will be held Monday, April 8th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 7th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
