SALEM- Stanley J. “Stash” Szczechowicz, Sr., age 69, husband of the late Sandra R. (Beeman) Szczechowicz, of Salem, died Thursday evening, January 13, 2005, in the Salem Hospital following a short illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Genevieve R. (Lipka) Szczechowicz.
Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was employed in the leather industry for many years, and worked for various companies in the area. He was a member of the International Leather Workers Union, Local #21 of Peabody.
A lifelong resident of the city, he was a member of the Polish Falcons, Nest #188, of Salem.
Mr. Szczechowicz is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Steven J. and Susan M. Szczechowicz, Stanley J. and Christine S. "Chrissy" Szczechowicz, Jr., Shawn P. and M. Carol Szczechowicz all of Salem, Scott M. and Karen P. Szczechowicz of Middleton, one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon E. and Richard B. Moore of Peabody, 11 grandchildren, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Kathleen Szczechowicz, Joseph and Patricia Szczechowicz, all of Hamilton, Constantine H, “Henry” and Lucy Szczechowicz of Beverly, John and Pat Szczechowicz of Lynn and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at 10 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Monday, 4 to 8 pm. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
