Robert Soares, 65, of N. Dartmouth, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Metzie M. (Harrop) Soares.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Lionel Soares, Sr. and Helen (Oliver) Soares, he was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Soares co-owned/operated R&R Autobody in Westport with his longtime friend, Russell Plamondon. He loved antique cars and all wildlife, especially birds. Most of all, though, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors along with his wife include his daughter: Tammy M. Almeida and her husband Edward of N. Dartmouth; his brother: Lionel Soares, Jr. of Westport; 2 grandchildren: Blaine and Courtney Almeida; 2 nieces; and 1 nephew.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be private.
