Lorraine M. Gomes, 63, of New Bedford died January 12, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.
She was the former wife of the late David Gomes.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of Mary P. (Pina) Rose of Philadelphia, PA and the late Manuel S. Monteiro, she lived in New Bedford all of her life. She was the stepdaughter of Antonio J. Rose of Dartmouth.
Mrs. Gomes was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was formerly employed as a clerk with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Welfare for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Gomes enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her mother; her stepfather; two sons, David Gomes, Jr., and his wife Christie, and Dennis A. Gomes, all of New Bedford; a daughter, Diane M. Gomes of New Bedford; two sisters, Geraldine A. Groebe of New Bedford and Diane T. Rosas of Philadelphia, PA; two grandsons; two aunts; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was the mother of the late Dawn L. Gomes and sister of the late Joseph A. Rose.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, January 18th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at Tuesday at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Monday, January 17th from 4-8 PM.
Interment St. John's Cemetery.
