Gurskis of Brockton January 12, 2005, John J. “Jack” Gurskis, Jr., 65 years. Beloved husband of Mary K. (Heighton) Gurskis. Loving father of Kathy Gurskis of Ashland, Doreen Hudson and her husband Bob of W. Bridgewater, Chris Gurskis and John J. Gurskis, III both of Brockton. Papa of Zachary and Tyler Hudson. Brother of Joseph Demers and his wife Maureen of Revere, Ray Miller and his wife Nancy of Lynn, Leah O’Shea and her husband John of Burlington, MA. Cousin of Billy Zebal of Watertown. Also leaves “his private nurse” Karen Spillane of E. Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Bridgewater. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm. Donations in memory of Jack may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute for Esophageal Cancer Research 375 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02215

Obituary

Mr. Gurskis died Wednesday evening at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. Born and raised in Cambridge, son of the late John J. Gurskis, Sr. He had been a Brockton resident since 1967. Before his retirement three years ago he was employed by New England Produce Center in Chelsea. Previously he worked at Mobil Oil Corporation as a driver from the Providence terminal. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 25 in Charlestown. Mr. Gurskis was an avid hockey fan and was a faithful supporter of his children’s hockey and softball games. He also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and time spent with his family and playing cribbage.

He is survived by his wife Mary K. (Heighton) Gurskis and his children, Kathy Gurskis of Ashland, Doreen Hudson and her husband Bob of W. Bridgewater, Chris Gurskis and John J. Gurskis, III both of Brockton, his grandchildren Zachary and Tyler Hudson, his brothers, Joseph Demers and his wife Maureen of Revere, Ray Miller and his wife Nancy of Lynn and a sister Leah O’Shea and her husband John of Burlington, MA., a cousin Billy Zebal of Watertown and “his private nurse” Karen Spillane of E. Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews
