TEWKSBURY - Madeleine T. (Gervais) Russo, age 77, a long time Saugus resident, died
Thursday morning, Jan. 13, at the Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife
of Chester P. Russo, who died in 1983.
She was born in Lowell, Oct. 22, 1927, a daughter of the late Almeda and Rose (DeSaulniers)
Gervais. She was raised in Lowell and graduated from Keith hall in Lowell. She lived the greater
part of her life in Saugus, and returned to Lowell in 1988. She had lived withe her daughter in
Tewksbury for the past two years.
As a resident of Saugus, she was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Parish, and since moving to
Lowell, St. Marie’s Parish in So. Lowell.
She worked as a nursing assistant at the Louise Caroline Nursing Home in Saugus.
She will be best remembered as having devoted her life to her family.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna (Russo) and her husband Daniel Plachowicz
of Tewksbury, with whom she had resided; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and his wife
Tammy (Jones) Russo of N.C., and Chester and his wife Caroline (DeSaulnier) Russo of
Pittsfield, MA; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Gerard and his wife Rita (Grandchamp) Gervais
of Dracut, Alice (Silva) Gervais of Chelmsford, Virginia Scanlon of Peabody; three grandchildren,
Robyn (Plachowicz) and her husband Bruce LaCreta of Atkinson, NH, Mark Plachowicz of Gloucester, Michael
Russo of N.C.; one great granddaughter, Olivia Madeleine LaCreta; and many nieces and
nephews.
She was also sister of the late Arthur Gervais and Leo Gervais. Funeral Mass Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Marie’s Church, So. Lowell. Interment in
Riverside Cemetery, Saugus. Visiting hours Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 in the funeral home.
Memorials in Mrs. Russo’s name to the charity of donor’s choice will be appreciated.
