Mary L. (Law) Whelan, of New Bedford died Wednesday January 12, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late William N. Whelan, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Jesse and Pearl J. (Butler) Law, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Mrs. Whelan was a member and Past President of the Catholic Women's Club of New Bedford and the Quota Club of New Bedford. She enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts, and amateur radio.
Survivors include two sons, William N. Whelan III and his wife Jean of New Bedford and David L. Whelan and his wife Linda of Plymouth; a daughter, Marilu Smith and her husband Al of New Bedford; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late E. Leo Law.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Saturday January 15, 2005 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Tarkiln Hill Rd., at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday January 14, 2005 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
