John R. Bostick, 76 of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center, Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be 4 PM, Friday, January 14, 2005, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Wilburn Wiley and Rev. Joyce Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Bostick was born July 7, 1928, in Lanier County, Georgia, to the late Raymond Bostick and Lucy Wiggins Myers. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1956 from Lanier County. Mr. Bostick retired as Street Commissioner after thirty-four years for the City of Fitzgerald and after retiring, he worked for Ben Hill County. He was a member of Liberty Emanuel Holiness Church in Fitzgerald. Mr. Bostick was a loving father and grandfather, who loved woodworking, fishing and Bluegrass Music.
Mr. Bostick is survived by his wife: Ruth H. Bostick, Fitzgerald; seven sons: John W. Bostick, Fitzgerald, Darryl Bostick, Whittier, NC, Terry Lee Bostick, Tifton, Randy Lynn Bostick, Tenstrike, MN, Lorie Dean “Bug” Bostick, Fitzgerald, Dana Alan Bostick, Jacksonville, FL and Michael Galenn Bostick, Cleveland, TN; one daughter: Glenda Leighann Griffin, Fitzgerald; sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother: Jimmy Bostick, Cleveland, GA; two sisters: Betty Ross, Columbus, OH and Grace Register, Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, John Bostick, mother and stepfather, Lucy Wiggins Myers and Jimmy Myers, two brothers and one sister.
